About this speaker
Peter worked in Local Government for 19 years primarily in the field of housing and specifically homelessness until 2014 when took up the position of Head of Strategy and Partnership for the North at Homeless Link, now Head of Partnerships nationally.
Starting out in Gateshead Council Peter developed a general understanding of Housing and progressed into the position of Senior Housing Advice Officer in 1997. After various specialist roles within Youth Offending and Leaving Care Peter returned to working in mainstream homelessness with Sunderland City Council in 2004. From 2005 Peter developed his leadership skills resulting in him becoming the Access to Housing Manager in June 2009.
In 2014 Peter joined Homeless Link as Head of Strategy for the North of England. This post and his subsequent position of Head of Partnerships allowed Peter to further broaden his knowledge of homelessness via the various Members up and down the country and enabled him to lead on Homeless Link’s national partnership work.
Since September 2018 Peter has been seconded into the Rough Sleeping Initiative within MHCLG as one of a team of Rough Sleeping Advisers. This has led to Peter supporting a number of areas up and down the country to develop their approach to tackling rough sleeping and has allowed him to bring his knowledge of all the great work being delivered by Homeless Link.
